Clinical Psychologist
I am a Clinical Psychologist with experience of working with adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties, including trauma, eating difficulties, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), low mood, psychosis (unusual experiences and beliefs) and bipolar disorder. I have worked in NHS mental health and neurodivergent services across community and inpatient settings, alongside my private practice. As my understanding and appreciation of neurodivergence grew (from around 2016 onwards) I increasingly noticed how many people were overlooked, their differences unrecognized, overshadowed or misunderstood. I have a strong understanding of autism and ADHD and can adapt therapy to take account of individual differences in communication, sensory needs, emotional regulation, organisation and energy levels. Therapeutic work with me might also include exploring ways of understanding yourself differently following a diagnosis, making sense of past experiences, or finding practical strategies that fit with how your brain works and what your body can manage.
I aim to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where people can feel comfortable being themselves. I recognise that coming to therapy can feel daunting, particularly if previous experiences of services have not felt helpful or if you have found it difficult to feel understood. I therefore take time to understand the person behind the difficulties they are experiencing and to work together to find an approach that feels right for them.
I work in an integrative, person-centred way, adapting the style and pace of therapy to the needs, preferences and circumstances of each individual. I draw on evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Systemic Family Therapy.
If you think I might be a good fit for you, I would be happy to arrange an initial conversation to discuss what you are looking for and whether I can help.
I can offer appointments on Monday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.
